The working principle of the jaw crusher is: using the squeezing and bending effect of the material on the two jaw plates, rough or medium crushing various hardness materials.

Its crushing mechanism consists of a fixed jaw plate and a motionable jaw plate. When the two jaw plates approach the material, the material is broken. When the two jaw plates leave, the blocks smaller than the discharge port are discharged from the bottom. Its crushing action is intermittent. This crusher is widely used in industrial sectors such as mining, building materials, silicate and ceramics due to the advantages of simple structure, reliable work and crushing hard materials.

The commonly used jaw crusher is two types of elbow plate and single elbow plate. The former only uses a simple arc swing when working, so it is also called a simple swinging jaw crusher; the latter also performs up and down while making the arc swing, so it is also called a complex swinging jaw crusher.

In addition, in order to meet the requirements of different discharge particle size and compensate the wear of the jaw plate, a modifier adjustment device is also added. Usually, the pad or wedge iron is added between the elbow plate and the rear frame. However, in order to prevent production due to replacement of broken parts, hydraulic devices can also be used to achieve insurance and adjustment. Some jaw crusher also uses hydraulic transmission to drive the jaw plate to complete the broken movement of the material. The two types of jaw crusher using a hydraulic transmission device are often referred to as hydraulic jaw crusher.
